From the railway station to the centre

You can get from Toruń Główny Railway Station to the Old Town by MZK bus - get on at Toruń Główny 04 stop and get off at Plac Rapackiego. The ride takes a few minutes. A single 60-minute ticket costs a few zlotys - you can buy it on the Jakdojade, SkyCash or moBILET app, at terminals in the vehicles and in paper form.

If you choose to walk, the Józef Piłsudski Bridge takes you straight into the centre - it takes around 40 minutes to get there. On the way you pass the Live Gingerbread Museum and Planetarium, so you can start your sightseeing even before you reach the Market Square.

If you are travelling by regional train, you can get off at Toruń Miasto train station (square 18 Stycznia 4) - from there it takes about a dozen minutes on foot to reach the ruins of the Teutonic castle.

A taxi from Toruń Główny train station will take you to the centre in a few minutes, and the fare costs several zlotys.


Around the city

You can get around the Old Town on foot - the Old Town Square, the Teutonic Castle, Copernicus House and the Leaning Tower are all within a few minutes' walk of each other.

If you are planning a city break, it is most convenient to spend the night in the Old Town or near Rapacki Square. You then have the main attractions within walking distance, and public transport is mainly useful for getting to and from the train station.

What to see in Toruń - main attractions

Old Town Square with Town Hall and Copernicus monument

The heart of the Old Town. The Town Hall, dating from the 14th century, has a 40-metre-high observation tower - entrance is charged. On the Market Square you will also see Artus Court and the Tenement House Under the Star with an exhibition of Far Eastern art. The tour of the Market Square with its surroundings takes 1-2 hours. It is advisable to arrive before 10:00, before organised groups arrive.


The Museum of Toruń Gingerbread

An interactive history of gingerbread making with baking workshops under the supervision of a master - workshops are worth booking in advance as places fill up quickly. A visit without the workshop takes 1-1.5 hours. There is an entrance fee.


Ruins of the Teutonic Castle

A Gothic fortress from the 13th century overlooking the Vistula River. Here you will see historical exhibitions, the underground and a model of the castle in its original form. The tour takes 1-1.5 hours. There is an entrance fee.


Nicolaus Copernicus House

This is the historic house where the astronomer was born. On site you will see an exhibition on astronomy and the Renaissance and a multimedia installation on the original 16th century ceiling. The tour takes 1-1.5 hours. There is an entrance fee.


Leaning Tower

Gothic tower from the 14th century tilted from the vertical by almost 1.5 metres. It takes 20-30 minutes to walk around and go inside. From the outside you will see it free of charge, while entrance to the inside is charged.


W. Dziewulski Planetarium

On site, you can choose a séance under the dome and visit the interactive Geodium with physical experiments. The visit takes 1.5-2 hours. There is an entrance fee. It is worth checking the schedule before visiting, as weekend screenings fill up quickly.


Vistula bunker

This is an air raid shelter from the 1940s with a bombing simulation. The facility operates seasonally, usually from spring to summer. The tour takes 30-45 minutes. There is an entrance fee, and booking in advance helps as groups are intimate.
