Train to Paris

Paris is sometimes referred to as the rail capital of Europe for good reason. It was here that the first TGV high-speed trains appeared, which nowadays connect Paris with most major cities in France and Switzerland, such as Lausanne, Geneva, Marseille, Nice and Zurich. TGV trains stop at the Gare de Lyon station. Another important station in Paris is the Gare du Nord from where Eurostar trains to London depart.

What's worth seeing in Paris?

It has played its role as the cultural capital of Europe for centuries. Today, it is a centre for international festivals, conferences and the arts. It is home to more than 400 galleries and around 150 museums, including the famous contemporary art museum of the Georges Pompidue Centre. However, the French capital is known above all as a city of lovers and monuments. It is impossible to miss the Eiffel Tower, towering over the city, which is the symbol of the Parisian exhibition and which, together with the Champs Elysees, forms a green, recreational space where it is certainly nice to sip wine and eat a baguette. The Seine meanders through the city, defining an axis along which are places such as the island of la Cita with Notre Damme Cathedral and the Musee d'Orsay, the Impressionist museum. The banks of the Seine are also ideal for romantic walks. Another must-see is the Louvre with Leonardo Da Vinci's famous Monalisa. The palace of the Sun King Louvre, located outside the city, is also worth a visit and can be easily reached by suburban rail. Around 30 million tourists visit Paris every year. Thanks to its unique atmosphere, it has also become a favourite city of photographers and filmmakers.
