How does voucher refund work for Deutsche Bahn and Flixtrain?

Voucher refund applies to tickets in partially refundable fares (Partially refundable). The funds are not transferred to a bank account - the carrier issues a digital voucher to be used on the next trip.

The voucher is sent directly by the carrier (Deutsche Bahn or Flixtrain) to the email address from your order - please check your Spam and Promotions folders. The code can only be redeemed on the carrier's website or app, in the "Coupon" / "Voucher" / "Promo code" field. Vouchers are not personalised. Validity: typically from 1 to 3 years.

Deutsche Bahn

Cancellation is possible only until the day before the ticket's first day of validity; on the day of departure it is blocked. The carrier deducts a fixed handling fee of 10.00 EUR.

Example: a ticket for €74.99 → DB voucher for €64.99 (the PolishTrains service fee remains non-refundable).

Flixtrain

The voucher value depends on the time remaining before departure at the moment of cancellation:

  • 30 days or more — 100% of ticket price
  • From 7 to 29 days — 75% of ticket price
  • From 1 to 6 days — 50% of ticket price
  • Less than 24 hours — 25% of ticket price

The PolishTrains service fee and the Flixtrain reservation fee (Service fee) added by the carrier remain non-refundable.
