Zabrze is ideal for a weekend getaway filled with a wide variety of attractions, such as industrial monuments, museums and beautiful recreational areas. Below you will find a list of 11 places to visit in this city during a short visit.
1. the Guido Mine
The historic coal mine is not only a witness to the history of mining, but also a fascinating museum with original mining machinery, accessible to visitors at depths of 170 and 320 metres. Here visitors can learn about the history of mining and see original mining machinery. This unique museum is located at 93 3 May Street, 2 km from the Zabrze railway station. Attractions on site include the "Underground Szychta" route in full cost (ticket costs PLN 120) and an underground mining walk (PLN 65 for a normal ticket and PLN 55 for a reduced ticket). Visits to the underground tours are possible from Monday to Sunday, but tickets must be purchased online or booked by phone or email before visiting.
The Queen Louise Adit
The Queen Louise Adit is a museum complex presenting the heritage of coal mining, allowing visitors to explore the underground corridors and take boat rides. Here, too, it is possible to visit the underground routes from Monday to Sunday, but reservations are required online or via the information line.
When it comes to attractions, Zabrze certainly won't let you get bored - all you have to do is go on an underground trip down the Adit with the route starting in Łańcuszkowa Łaźnia at 408 Wolności Street (the cost is 65 zlotys for a normal ticket and 55 zlotys for a reduced ticket) or decide to climb the shaft tower (you have to pay 10 zlotys for a ticket).
3rd Pressure Tower
The historic water tower at 2 Zamoyskiego Street dates from 1909. It is a remarkable example of industrial architecture, which now serves cultural and exhibition functions. The Carboneum - coal knowledge centre can be visited during the week from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. and on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. A normal ticket costs 15 zlotys, a reduced one 10 zlotys.
St. Anne's Church
The historic St Anne's Church from the early 20th century is one of the most important religious buildings in the city. This well-known attraction of Zabrze, not only among Catholics, is less than one kilometre from the railway station. It is worth coming here to have a look at the stained glass windows with figures of saints, the pulpit, the marble balusters and the 47-voice organ from 1900 by the Schlag&Söhne company from Świdnica.
5 The wooden St. Hedwig's Church
What is Zabrze famous for? A must-see attraction? One of them is the wooden church from the 1920s, which catches the eye from afar with its unique wooden facade. It is one of the buildings on the Trail of Wooden Architecture in the Silesian Voivodeship. The decision to choose such a material stems from concern over the possible destruction of the church as a result of mining damage. The sanctuary can be viewed at 504 Wolności Street.
6th Municipal Botanical Garden

An architectural curiosity on a national scale in Zabrze? An experimental residential building from 1927, made entirely of steel. The facades of the building use a special construction of metal plates joined by rivets, but the inside of the walls are made of bricks. The building can be found at 7d Cmentarna Street, about 750 metres from the railway station.
8th Jewish Cemetery
The historic Jewish cemetery at 15 Cmentarna Street, established in the 19th century, is a testimony to the multicultural history of the city, a symbol of the partial assimilation of the Jewish community into the Prussian one, and a silent witness to history, which is worth a visit when in Zabrze.

10. Zandka housing estate
Interesting places in Zabrze? Undoubtedly one of them is the "Zandka" housing estate in Mały Zabrze, located in Krakusa and Stalmacha Streets (one kilometre from the railway station). It was built between 1903 and 1922 and consists of around 40 residential buildings with similar symmetrical floor plans, but with varied masses and roofs. Their architecture is varied with risalits, bays, turrets, facades and dormer windows.

A facility for outdoor brine inhalation, conducive to relaxation and health, can be found in Zabrze's Kończyce district, at 3 Dorotki Street, on the premises of the District Cultural Centre.
