RegioJet in Poland - history, owner
RegioJet is a Czech private railway operator belonging to the Student Agency group, owned by Radim Jančura - an entrepreneur known for developing modern transport services in Central Europe. The company has been operating since 2009, and its first passenger trains set off on national routes in the Czech Republic two years later. From the beginning, RegioJet's goal was to create an alternative to the state-owned railway operators, based on high-quality service, a transparent booking system and attractive prices.
In Poland, RegioJet appeared in 2025, when the first international services were launched on routes connecting southern Poland with the Czech Republic. Today, its trains run, among others, on the Warsaw - Ostrava - Prague route, providing a convenient solution for travellers heading both towards the Czech capital and further west in Europe.
Development plans and future of RegioJet in Poland
The carrier's presence on the Polish market began with regular services between Prague and Cracow, running once a day. Subsequently, the network of connections was expanded and trains began to reach as far as Warsaw, while also serving several stations in southern Poland. This made RegioJet one of the few private operators offering daily train connections between Poland and the Czech Republic.
RegioJet's connections in Poland are international in nature, but the carrier is constantly increasing the number of courses and planning further destinations. In the coming years, new connections towards Gdańsk and Wrocław will be announced, as well as a possible extension of routes towards Katowice and Poznań. Passengers will be able to use the following routes in the near future:
● Bogumin - Warsaw - Gdańsk - Gdynia,
● Gliwice - Warszawa - Gdańsk - Gdynia,
● Rybnik - Warszawa - Gdańsk - Gdynia,
● Przemyśl - Kraków - Ostrava - Brzecław - Vienna,
● Gdynia - Gdańsk - Warsaw - Katowice - Ostrava - Brzeclaw - Vienna,
● Gdynia - Gdańsk - Warsaw - Katowice - Ostrava - Prague,
● Warsaw - Poznań - Berlin,
● Warsaw - Poznań - Szczecin,
● Warsaw - Poznań - Wrocław
The Czech carrier regularly announces further expansion on the Polish market. In addition to the expansion of existing connections, the plans also include the launch of new seasonal routes and possible night connections. The company's strategy is toincrease the frequency of its flights, develop its catering offer and further improve service standards. In the long term, RegioJet has the ambition to become a competitor to national carriers, offering fast, comfortable and affordable travel.

RegioJet trains on Polish tracks
On Polish tracks, there are mainly modern Bombardier Talent trainsets and units produced by Pesa Bydgoszcz, adapted to the service standards in force in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Each RegioJet train is distinguished by its distinctive yellow painting and a high level of equipment - the carriages are equipped with electrical sockets, Wi-Fi, a seat reservation system and catering facilities.
In Poland, RegioJet trains serve three main travel classes: Business, Relax and Standard, and in selected trainsets also Low Cost. As a result, passengers can tailor their travel conditions to their preferences - from economy travel to a comfortable compartment with personalised service.
Importance of international cooperation
RegioJet's entry into the Polish market is part of a wider strategy to liberalise rail transport in the European Union. As a private operator from the Czech Republic, the company benefits from open access to infrastructure, which allows it to operate cross-border connections without having to cooperate with the local state-owned carrier. As a result, RegioJet in Poland operates on a commercial basis, setting its own timetable, fares and service standard.
Poland is an important direction of development for the company - it is not only a market with a growing number of passengers, but also a key transit point between Western and Eastern Europe. The carrier's plans also include the development of overnight services between Warsaw, Cracow and Prague to compete with air travel in terms of convenience and journey time.
