Changes to the summer train timetable - PKP summer timetable 2025
As the PKP 2025 holiday timetable comes into force, many changes await travellers. It's worth keeping an eye on them to make sure you don't miss out on new connections or convenient alternatives to your current routes. The connections that will be launched as part of the June timetable revision will be additional courses beyond the originally planned network. There is no information at this time as to whether the connections will be introduced as year-round or only for the holiday season. What new connections will come into effect with the June changes?
- Train from Cracow via Mielec to Hrubieszów - IC Kasztelan
- Train from Cracow to Lublin via Rzeszów and Leżajsk - IC Smok Wawelski
- Train from Łódź to Gdynia via Warsaw - IC Katamaran
- Train from Białystok to Wrocław through Łódź and Warsaw - IC Leśmian
- Train from Bydgoszcz to Warsaw - IC Brda
From June, a new route will be introduced between Szczecin and Wrocław, which will run via Poznań instead of the previous route via Zielona Góra. This change will allow full use to be made of the modernised railway lines adapted to a speed of 160 km/h on the Szczecin-Poznań and Poznań-Wrocław sections, which should translate into shorter journey times. Already today, a journey with a change of train in Poznań makes it possible to cover this route up to one hour faster than with a direct connection via Głogów and Zielona Góra.
The new connection, planned under the name IC Merkury, will run as far as Świnoujście.
What other changes await travellers during the summer holidays? - New PKP timetable
As the summer holidays approach, the Polish State Railways (PKP) traditionally increase the number of train connections, especially towards popular holiday destinations. In the summer, travellers can count on a richer network of connections both to the sea and to the mountains, which will allow them to plan their holidays better and reach their destination comfortably without having to use a car.
- Thus, 11 pairs of trains will run to Świnoujście and as many as 16 to Kołobrzeg, 6 trains to Ustka and Hel and 5 to Łeba.
- For those choosing a mountain climate, as many as 12 pairs of trains will run to Zakopane and 3 to Szklarska Poręba.
- During the holiday season, the Pendolino trainset, which normally runs on the route to and from Szczecin, will be extended as far as Świnoujście. Thus, ED250 vehicles will also serve other seaside towns, including Międzyzdroje, for the first time.
The new connection, with a planned departure from Warsaw at around 16:00 and arrival in Świnoujście at around 21:40, will make it possible to cover a distance of almost 600 kilometres in a time competitive with travel by car - up to an hour shorter. This will also be the record travel time in the history of this route.
The PKP's summer route offer has been noticeably strengthened to meet the increased interest in travel during the holiday season. With additional courses, new routes and reduced journey times, rail travel is becoming even more comfortable and competitive with road transport. Extending the reach of trains - including Pendolino - to popular resorts such as Świnoujście and Międzyzdroje is a response to the growing needs of passengers. This year's holiday timetable is good news for all those planning a car-free holiday - fast, comfortable and without traffic jams.
