If you are planning a trip to Łeba, it is worth making a list of places to visit - be prepared for an intensive visit, because there are really a lot of them!
The beach in Łeba
The beach in Leba is the first and obligatory point to visit in this town. It enjoys unflagging popularity, and this is mainly due to its favourable location and geographical conditions. Tourists like to relax on the Leba beach because of its width, which makes it very accessible, and its sandiness. Who among us likes to rest on stones? Exactly! Łeba has great attractions and its beach undoubtedly enhances its attractiveness. On warmer days there are two large bathing beaches, which are protected. In addition, delightful landscapes and a non-uniform coastline of a variable character encourage coastal walks. It is very long - more than ten kilometres! As a result, there are plenty of steps down to the beach. In addition, its length means that there is no congestion, you can place yourself in popular and crowded areas, but also find empty, almost wild areas. So, if you need excitement, go to the beach in Leba without a doubt. If, on the other hand, you are looking for peace and privacy... head in the same direction. There is something for everyone!
The Slowinski National Park
While in Leba, you can't miss the Slowinski National Park with its moving dunes. It is a beautiful place and, thanks to the unique terrain, extremely original. The park itself was established in 1967. Its total area is approximately 32,000 hectares. This makes it the largest area of wandering sand in Europe - a true rarity on our continent! Typically desert landscape, flat areas, bulging high hills - such attractions Łeba can expose with a pure heart! The dunes reach up to several dozen metres and their view is something highly original. Apart from them, you can also experience the beautiful lakes - Gardna and Łabska. You can admire them after climbing the highest dunes. The area of the Slovinski National Park is protected and entrance to it is ticketed (normal costs 7 PLN, reduced - 3,50). Within the park, you can only walk along designated paths. A walk along them will satisfy your eyes with the beauty of this place - go there, because it is really worth it!
Labyrinth in Łeba
A wide range of interesting items is available in Łeba - there is no end to the attractions there. The Labyrinth Park Łeba undoubtedly deserves this title. A visit to it is only for brave people who have a good orientation in the area. Why? It is easy to get lost among the many kinks! And there are many of them - the main labyrinth has been created on an area of 5,000 square metres and has been planted with viewing platforms with four possible objectives on the way to the exit. The time allotted for the passage varies from 20-40 minutes, depending on a person's orientation in the area. The degree of difficulty is adapted to each age group. The classic labyrinth has no dead ends or treacherous paths - there is only one way that leads from the entrance to the centre. Outside, you can take part in boule, a French social game with arcade elements. There is also the Magic Garden of large-format wooden games, where you can find a multitude of XXL games based on dexterity or logic and deduction. In addition, the little ones will also enjoy the Family Place corner in the Park, where they can play games of skill and fun with their families. From July to August, the Park is open from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., in the other months until 5:00 p.m. A normal ticket costs 35 zlotys and a reduced ticket costs 27 zlotys. If you love adventure, you'll find yourself there!
Port and wharf in Łeba
The port of Łeba is located at the mouth of the Chełst channel into the Łeba River, in the western part of the town. It has three harbour basins. It can accommodate around 120 vessels of various classes. This includes both sailing yachts, which are up to 18 metres long, and motor yachts up to 24 metres. The berths are located at the gangways along the floating piers. The berths offer water and electricity connections. For those seeking excitement and a break from land for a moment, there is the option of a boat trip on the sea - this can be arranged right in the harbour, from where the tourist facilities depart. During the summer season, many vessels dock there, making the excursion offer very rich and varied. In addition to the possibility of a cruise, tourists can choose from a number of restaurants and bars located inside the ships. Their multitude makes a stroll along the quayside in the harbour very interesting - a feast of colours and shapes combined with the specific coastal climate is a unique experience!
Church of the Assumption and Ruins of St. Nicholas Church
The Church of St. Nicholas was once the centre of the local community in Leba. It had one nave and a tower. It was built in the 14th century and became the parish church of Stara Łeba. It was located on the western side of the river. The close proximity to the water environment was sometimes dangerous for the sacred building. In 1558, a storm that hit Leba badly damaged the site. Faced with this devastation and the harsh conditions caused by the element, the inhabitants abandoned their previous settlements and decided to move to the right bank of the river. This proved to be a good decision, as the left bank continued to be destroyed by the forces of nature. This caused the St Nicholas Church to be completely abandoned, no one visited it any more, and it therefore deteriorated more and more.
In 1558 Old Leba was filled in and two years later the clerical tabernacle was demolished. In 1590, on the new area where the inhabitants had moved, the erection of another building began - the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. In 1590, the construction of the next building, the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, began. Material recovered from the old church was used in its construction. Today, only ruins remain of the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary - only part of the brick wall, probably the former left nave, is visible. It is located on Turystyczna Street and the remains are listed in the Register of Historic Monuments.
The Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, on the other hand, is located in Powstańców Warszawy Street. After its construction, it succumbed to fire, only to rise again in its place. Protestant services were held there, and it now belongs once again to the Catholic parish. It is maintained in a minimalist style. Inside, there is an expressionist painting by Pechstein, as well as a statue of a baptismal angel. It is well worth visiting this place, which bears witness to hundreds of years of Pomeranian history and the spirituality of the region's inhabitants. It has a unique atmosphere of past centuries that can transport you back to the past.
Dom Kuracyjny
Dom Kuracyjny in Łeba, referred to as the Castle on the Dunes, began to be built in 1906 and was put into use just a few months later. The idea for its construction came from Baron Herbert von Massow, who recognised the great value of the area and wanted to attract as many tourists as possible to it. It is located right on the beach. It is situated on a dune, hence the nickname it has earned. Due to its proximity to the element of water, it was very often washed up and damaged by storms, causing it to be closed for several years. When it was reopened, a dune was laid out in front of it, a concrete retaining wall and a wooden palisade were made. Over the decades it has undergone many innovations for preservation and restoration. Today, completely restored and in excellent condition, it functions as the Łeba Castle. Inside the building you can feel the atmosphere of a seaside estate with a long history. It is a great showpiece of the region and undoubtedly an object worth visiting.
Kościuszko Street
One of the most interesting and colourful cities in Poland is precisely Łeba - tourist attractions can be found here at every step. And literally! A huge number of people walk along the main street of this town every day, and their attention is undoubtedly drawn to the old fishermen's houses. In the past, they were used to store fishing equipment, and today you can enjoy the local cuisine or admire their architecture. They were built in the 19th and early 20th centuries. The plaque on the oldest of the buildings states that it was owned by the mayor of Mampe and was erected in 1723. A raggedy time! The cottages have allowed the place to retain the character of a pre-war fishing village, which gives an incredible feeling to visitors. This feeling is enhanced by the promenade leading to the pier, as well as the harbourmaster's office and the historic bell built against the fog, on which the patron saints of seafarers - St James and St Nicholas - are immortalised. On the pier, meanwhile, is a cross erected in memory of fishermen, sailors and all those who did not return from the sea.
Along the street you can walk along the promenade, where you will find the Presidential Alley with the handprints of Polish presidents - Ryszard Kaczorowski, Wojciech Jaruzelski, Lech Wałęsa, Aleksander Kwaśniewski, Lech Kaczyński and Bronisław Komorowski - imprinted on stone boulders. They make up the Path of Time, the aim of which was to create a place of historical and educational character in the city centre. At the same time, it is the only place of its kind in Poland, so it is all the more worth visiting and providing a free history lesson.
The Amber Museum in Łeba
It was opened in 2017. It is housed in a small building, which is a private museum. It encompasses a collection of unique ambers, which presents the history of this mineral, its uses and values. The exhibition is divided into four thematic rooms:
-
Amber Chamber,
-
Ice Age,
-
Hall of Inclusions, and
-
Amber Forest.
Walking through them, visitors can learn more about the past of Baltic amber. The presentation also reveals to visitors a collection of amber artworks, such as ornaments, sculptures, handicrafts and jewellery. The history of this mineral goes back 40 million years, which is what Łeba boasts so loudly - its attractions are undoubtedly crowned by the beauty of amber. Those wishing to buy these treasures can stock up on them in the museum shop, where many amber souvenirs, as well as jewellery or ornaments, are available. This is an extremely original place on the map of local handicraft mines.
The Butterfly Museum in Łeba
This is a fascinating place that will introduce you to the extremely colourful world of insects. Its history dates back to 1937, when a private collection of butterflies was created. It was expanded with collections of insects from all over the world, and among them are the most popular, as well as the rarest ones, such as the bytomnid butterfly, the Atlas peacock, bugs and spooks. A museum has been organised on its basis - a rarity on a national scale, as it is the first of its kind in Poland. The entire collection now numbers more than 6,000 diverse specimens. It has been divided into two expositions - one of them is located in Władysławowo, where the donor of the collection came from, and the other in Łeba, where 4 thousand specimens have been placed. The uniqueness of this museum, opened in 1999, makes it impossible to miss it. It is a great place for tourists wandering solo, as well as those with families - as there is an interactive test about butterflies and an Insect Cinema with Maja the Bee for children. You can also take a closer look at specimens thanks to microscope observation stations for insects. The museum is located on Wojska Polskiego Street and, in addition to the exhibition, houses a themed souvenir shop. It is open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. (except Wednesdays and Mondays, when visits start from 11 a.m.), and the ticket cost is 20 zlotys (concessionary) or 25 (normal). You can feel the passion for nature and love of flora in this place - a facility with soul!

The collection consists of artefacts acquired by library staff, but also received as donations from local residents. Many of the curiosities relate exclusively to local characters and events, such as a fishing boat escape or a plane crash.
