Trains IC KASZTELAN
Kasztelan train – routes and services
Kasztelan is an IC-category train running on the Hrubieszów Miasto - Kraków Main route and in the opposite direction. The timetable provides for two services, and the train runs daily in both directions.
The route connecting Hrubieszów with Kraków is convenient for people travelling from the Zamojszczyzna region to the capital of Małopolska without having to change trains, as the entire section is operated by a single IC trainset. The journey towards Kraków takes over five hours, which for many passengers means planning their departure in advance rather than making a last-minute decision.
The ticket price depends on the selected train category – travelling by IC Intercity is the cheapest option, while travelling by a PolRegio-category train is the most expensive, with the difference reaching several times the price of an IC ticket. If your plans change, you can exchange your ticket for Kasztelan online on the PolishTrains service, which is particularly useful for longer journeys planned in advance.
Among passengers departing from Hrubieszów Miasto station, the majority, as many as 47 per cent, choose to buy shortly before departure, within a period of up to three days, while the sales peak falls in December. Before travelling, it is worth checking the train timetable in the PolishTrains search engine to see whether the date falls during a period of increased traffic. PolishTrains shows the available seat classes on IC trains before the ticket is purchased, which helps you choose a carriage suited to your travel needs.
