2.1 Teutonic Castle

This is an impressive attraction that will take you back to medieval times! Although today only the ruins of the castle remain, their monumentality allows you to imagine the former power of this Teutonic fortress. Here you can explore the mysterious underground, see the former moat, and admire the reconstruction of medieval torture instruments in the interactive museum. Interestingly, in the 15th century, during an uprising against the Teutonic Knights, the castle was partially destroyed by the citizens of Toruń. In Franciszkańska Street you will find the unique Museum of Travellers, dedicated to the famous globetrotter, Tony Halik. Why in Toruń? The impulse to create the museum was a gift of over 800 exhibits given to the people of Toruń by Elżbieta Dzikowska, a traveller and Halik's wife. Inside, we can admire unusual souvenirs from his expeditions, mainly in North and South America - tribal masks, exotic clothes or photographs documenting the life of distant cultures. 2.6 Market Square with the Nicolaus Copernicus Monument

The central point of Toruń is the Old Town Square with the eye-catching Gothic Town Hall in the middle. It is one of the largest and most beautiful buildings of its kind in Europe and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The square also houses a statue of Nicolaus Copernicus - the eminent astronomer born in the city. The Latin inscription on the pedestal reads: "It happened that he moved the Earth, stopped the Sun and the Sky". The New Town Square in Toruń is the heart of the former New Town, which merged with the Old Town in the 14th century.
