We start our journey at📍Katowice Central Station**.** The current building is an example of modern architecture, but has retained elements from previous constructions, such as the famous concrete "flowers" from the 1970s-a symbol of the old station. From the station we set off to see the first attraction on our tourist trail:📍Freedom Square ⤵️

🕚 8 min 🚶600 m

2.1 Freedom Square

One of the oldest squares in Katowice, surrounded by historic townhouses from the turn of the 20th century. It is a quiet place with an atmospheric park. In the centre of the square is the monument to Marshal Józef Piłsudski, a symbol of Upper Silesia's struggle to become part of Poland. After such a welcome to the city, we set off towards the 📍Archikatry ofChrist Króla⤵️

🕚 19 min 🚶1.3 km

2.2 Cathedral of Christ the King

Poland's largest cathedral by area. Its neo-classical volume dominates the surrounding area and is an important religious landmark in Katowice. Due to the Second World War , its construction took almost 30 years, and the original design called for a higher dome, but the communist authorities forced its lowering. From here, it's only a few minutes away from the symbols of the region's political history: 📍PlacSejmu Śląskiego⤵️

🕚 7 min 🚶550 m

2.3 Silesian Seym Square

It is a place surrounded by monumental buildings in modernist and classicist style, including the seat of the former Silesian Parliament. This place is an important point on the historical map of Katowice. The Sejm building itself has one of the longest façades in Poland, measuring as much as 140 metres, and inside it hides secret escape routes that were meant to serve politicians in case of emergency. Staying on the theme of the region's history, we go tothe📍Silesian Museum ⤵️

🕚 27 min 🚶2 km

2.4 Silesian Museum

A modern museum located on the site of the former "Katowice" coal mine. Visitors can learn about the history and art of Upper Silesia. The museum is designed in such a way that most of the building is hidden underground. From above, only the glass towers, reminiscent of mine shafts, are visible. After an encounter with history, it's time for a moment with culture , we go to the 📍StrefaKultury⤵️

🕚 7 min 🚶500 m

2.5 Cultural zone

An architectural complex around Spodek, NOSPR and the Silesian Museum. It is a place where modern architecture combines with the history of mining and industry. A cultural space has been created on the site of a former mine, symbolically showing the transformation of the region from industrial to cultural. From here it's just 5 minutes to Katowice's iconic 📍Spodek ⤵️.

🕚 5 min 🚶400 m

2.6 Spodek

Symbol of Katowice. A distinctive sports and entertainment hall whose structure resembles a flying saucer. It is the venue for concerts, matches and various cultural events. From Spodek, it's only a few steps away from one of Katowice's newest tourist attractions: 📍 the building of thePolish National Symphony Orchestra Radia⤵️.

🕚 4 min 🚶280 m
