POLREGIO - honouring tickets | PolishTrains
** Travelling around different regions of Poland often means using the offers of several carriers. POLREGIO cooperates with regional railways, which means that part of your journey can be made without buying another ticket. This is a considerable facilitation, especially when you are planning a trip combining connections of different carriers or you find yourself in an emergency situation, such as a delay, train cancellation or loss of a connecting train.

- In emergencies such as cancellations or delays over 40 minutes, both operators activate reciprocal acceptance

- If a conductor refuses to accept your ticket, request written confirmation of the refusal and the stated reason
Does POLREGIO honour tickets of the Lower Silesian Railway (KD)?
In Lower Silesia, the cooperation between POLREGIO and KD operates exceptionally broadly - and in both directions. Thanks to this, travellers can continue their journey without having to worry about additional formalities, especially on lines which are regularly operated by two carriers.
Tickets for REGIO trains operated by POLREGIO are honoured on KD trains - both those purchased at ticket offices, vending machines, from conductors and online. Practically the whole range of single tickets is valid here: from the normal tariff, through statutory concessions, trade concessions, to tickets in the RAZEM tariff, including those for holders of REGIOcards and group travel participants. Popular offers such as You and One, Two, Three, Connection at a good price or REGIO Senior are also accepted. There are also tickets for transporting bicycles, luggage and dogs, surcharge tickets and a full set of season tickets: weekly, monthly, quarterly and network tickets, also those covered by commercial discounts for railway employees or railway pensioners.
In turn, on REGIO trains operated by POLREGIO, the following are honoured: single tickets with statutory and commercial discounts, tickets in the RAZEM tariff, KD special offers (such as Lower Silesian Weekend Ticket, Local Tariff, Together with KD or Senior 60+) and tickets for transporting a bicycle, luggage and dog. Weekly and monthly tickets are also honoured, including registered section tickets, tickets in the RAZEM tariff, tickets with statutory and commercial discounts, as well as monthly network tickets and monthly tickets for the carriage of a bicycle.
It is worth remembering that these rules do not include superREGIO trains, for which a separate tariff is applied.
The cooperation also works in emergency situations. Tickets are reciprocally honoured in the event of service interruptions, long stopovers due to breakdowns or damage to infrastructure, as well as in the event of missed connections or cancellation of journeys when the delay is more than one hour. The only exclusions are situations caused by a strike lasting more than two hours.
Does POLREGIO honour tickets of the Wielkopolska Railway (KW)?
In Greater Poland, the rules are very similar to those for KD. POLREGIO and KW mutually honour each other's tickets in a wide range, which allows you to travel around the region without having to divide your route into separate sections.
On POLREGIO trains, you can use the majority of KW tickets - from single tickets to weekly, monthly and quarterly tickets, both at the normal fare and with statutory (33-100%) or commercial discounts, as well as offers such as Bilet 60+, Bilet dobrych relacji, ODJAZDOWApromocja or Bus-Tram-Kolej. Network tickets, bicycle, dog and luggage tickets are also recognised.
The other way round is similar: Koleje Wielkopolskie honours one-time and season POLREGIO tickets, including those with discounts, tickets from the REGIO Senior offer, Bilet dobrych relacji or ODJAZDOWApromocja, as well as REGIOkarnet, Bilet turystyczny, monthly network tickets and weekly holiday tickets. Irrespective of the tariff, carriers also recognise each other's tickets in situations of inconvenience such as traffic disruptions, breakdowns, delays of more than 60 minutes or loss of connection - excluding long-lasting strikes.
POLREGIO Intercity Ticket Honouring
Although PKP Intercity and POLREGIO operate in different market segments, the rules for honouring tickets also exist here - especially in special situations.
The following tickets are honoured on POLREGIO trains:
- periodic network tickets valid in all train categories (normal and with a 50% discount), issued as plastic INTERCITY Cards,
- international tickets according to SCIC-NRT, SCIC-EWT and SCIC-RPT tariffs.
Additional rules apply on specific sections:
- Route: Łódź - Warsaw - Łódź.
- The area of Łódź agglomeration.
In emergency situations, such as a train cancellation, an anticipated delay of more than 40 minutes or a missed connection, both carriers may announce the mutual honouring of tickets. This allows travellers to continue their journey or return to the departure station. A passenger using a POLREGIO ticket on an IC train may take a seat, but only until the arrival of a person with a seat.
Mutual recognition is not valid on international trains, 1st class carriages, sleeping and reclining cars, or Express InterCity Premium trains.
POLREGIO - honouring MPK tickets
In many cities and agglomerations, POLREGIO cooperates with public transport and regional carriers within the framework of the so-called integrated offers. They allow passengers to travel with one ticket on various means of transport - most often on POLREGIO trains and buses or trams of the local ZTM/MZK.
Among the most important integrated offers are:
Joint Agglomeration Tick et - available, among others, in the Łódzkie Voivodeship; enables travel by trains and public transport on a single ticket.
BIT City Agglomeration Ticket - valid between Toruń and Bydgoszcz; enables travel by train and public transport in both cities.
Honouring ZTM Gdańsk tickets on POLREGIO trains - includes selected single-trip and time tickets that can be used on trains on the Gdańsk Lipce - Gdańsk Wrzeszcz (Gdańsk Osowa) - Gdańsk Oliwa route.
Małopolska Tariff - integrated tickets that allow you to travel on POLREGIO trains and Małopolska Trains together with public transport.
Taryfa Sądecka - valid on the line Stróże - Krynica-Zdrój, allows you to use different carriers within one offer.
MZK Opole tickets - certain city tickets are honoured on POLREGIO trains within the city and adjacent sections.
Shared tickets and integrated offers are particularly important for commuters to work or school - instead of several tickets, you only need one ticket that covers both train and public transport. It is also a good solution for people who frequently travel within the borders of a conurbation.
