POLREGIO is the operator operating the largest number of passenger connections in the country. Every day, around 2,000 trains set off on the tracks, connecting almost 2,000 stations and stops. The carrier's history dates back to the beginning of the 21st century, when Przewozy Regionalne, a company separated from the PKP group, was established in 2001. Its aim was to focus on serving regional traffic, which required a flexible approach to passenger needs and cooperation with provincial authorities. In the following years, the company modernised its rolling stock, upgraded timetables and implemented electronic ticketing systems.

In 2016, a new chapter in the company's history began. The rebranding, which brought a change of name to POLREGIO, was not only a refresh of the image, but also a clear signal of modernisation. The aim of the new strategy was to create a brand which is associated with accessibility, safety and modernity - values which were to reflect the company's mission.

The new logo, kept in the colours of red and grey, symbolises energy and stability - two pillars on which POLREGIO's philosophy is based. The rebranding was also accompanied by major organisational and investment changes: modernisation of rolling stock, improvement of service quality, introduction of new sales channels and development of cooperation with local and EU partners.

Today, the company is the largest passenger carrier in Poland and one of the leaders in the modernisation of transport infrastructure. It has implemented many projects co-financed by EU funds, investing in the purchase of new trains, track renovation and station modernisation. POLREGIO also operates seasonal lines, which are usually launched during holidays. They make it possible to conveniently reach places of tourist interest - in Poland and abroad. These include connections to Medzilaborec, Włodawa, Hrebenne, Łeba or Wierzbno.

Although PKP POLREGIO concentrates its activities mainly on domestic transport, the carrier also operates selected international connections which enable travel to neighbouring countries. In the past, the network included a number of destinations, but now regular services are mainly operated on routes to Germany and Slovakia.

In the case of connections to Germany, passengers can take advantage of convenient routes from, for example, Szczecin to Angermünde, Kostrzyn to Berlin or Zgorzelec to Goerlitz, which allow them to seamlessly cross the border and continue their journey with German regional carriers.

In southern Poland, POLREGIO operates a seasonal connection from Rzeszów and Sanok to Medzilaborec in Slovakia. This route leads through the picturesque areas of Podkarpacie and the Carpathian borderland, making it an attractive option for those planning trips to the Low Beskid region or the Slovak Carpathian Mountains.

Domestic offers

Among the most popular offers are tickets providing full freedom of travel within a selected time frame.

Weekend tourist ticket - entitles you to 3 days of travel throughout Poland and on selected international routes. Available in mini and standard versions.

REGIOkarnet - allows you to travel across Poland for 3 days without restrictions. Available in mini and standard versions.

Season tickets - a very cost-effective option offering up to 50% savings. Ideal for commuters to work or school.

REGIOSenior - a special option for people over 60 years of age. Gives a 25% discount on single tickets and a 10% discount on season tickets.

Regional offers

In addition to nationwide offers, PKP POLREGIO offers numerous regional fares, developed in cooperation with provincial governments. These allow for cheaper travel within a selected region.

They include, among others:

Pomeranian Tar iff - covering journeys within the Pomeranian Voivodeship, with convenient prices for commuters to the Tricity,

Małopolska Tariff - allowing cheap travel in the Małopolska region, e.g. on the Cracow - Tarnów - Nowy Sącz routes,

Tarfa Łódzka, Lubuska and Podkarpacka, tailored to local transport needs,

"Podhalańska Kolej Regionalna" (Podhale Regional Railway) offer, created for tourists visiting Zakopane and its surroundings.

Regional offers often include discounts for organised groups, as well as additional season tickets for pupils and students.

Integrated offers

With passengers using different means of transport in mind, POLREGIO has introduced integrated offers which combine train travel with public transport.

The best known of these are:

Joint Agglomeration Ticket, available in the largest cities such as Zgierz, Głowno, Łowicz or Skierniewice, allowing passengers to travel with one ticket on POLREGIO trains and buses and trams,

Agglomeration BiT City ticket - allows train travel between Toruń and Bydgoszcz, including public transport,

Podhalańska Kolej Regionalna(PodhaleRegional Railway), integrating rail with bus transport in the Podhale and Tatra regions.

International connections

PKP POLREGIO's offer also includes special international tickets that allow you to travel to Germany and Slovakia. These include:

Poland - Germany border ticket - valid on POLREGIO, DB Regio AG and Laenderbahn GmbH trains,

Regio Special Germany - a special offer for travellers moving within the border zone,

Poland-Slovakia Special offers cheaper weekend tickets on the Rzeszów/Sanok - Medzilaborce - Rzeszów/Sanok route.

Although the international offer is currently limited, POLREGIO announces a gradual expansion of cooperation with foreign partners, which may mean a return to Czech and Lithuanian routes in the future.

POLREGIO PKP passengers can take advantage of numerous statutory discounts - for pupils, students, senior citizens, people with disabilities and children. In addition, the carrier offers discounts for school, tourist and family groups.

Tickets can be purchased at traditional ticket offices, self-service machines, as well as in mobile applications and through the online sales system. Online booking allows you to easily change your travel dates, make a ticket refund or download an invoice.

Rolling stock modernisation is one of the key elements in the development of POLREGIO PKP. In recent years, the company has purchased and renewed dozens of modern vehicles, including Elf, Link or EN57AL units. These trains offer a high standard of travel and are adapted to the needs of all passengers.

Comfort of the daily journey

POLREGIO's modern and modernised PKP trains are equipped with air conditioning, clear passenger information systems and ergonomic seats. Many trainsets are equipped with electric sockets. The trains also have separate spaces for bicycles and luggage compartments, which is particularly appreciated by passengers travelling as tourists or with larger equipment.

Barrier-free travel

Of particular importance in the carrier's policy is the programme "Journey without barriers with POLREGIO", the aim of which is to ensure that journeys are fully accessible to people with limited mobility. The new train units have a low floor, wide doors and automatic ramps to enable independent boarding of the train.

Lifts, lifts and marked parking spaces near the platforms are appearing at many stations. Braille lettering is being introduced for visually impaired passengers, and visual information systems and text messaging are being introduced for the deaf.
