How and where to buy a Deutsche Bahn ticket?

Want to travel to Germany and wondering where and how to buy a Deutsche Bahn ticket? The easiest way is to book your ticket online - either on the carrier's official website or on the Polish booking system PolishTrains, which allows you to buy in zloty, without language barriers. Simply enter the departure and destination stations, select the date of travel and the coach class. The service will automatically show the available connections with prices, journey times and information on possible transfers.

In PolishTrains, you can also save your ticket electronically - as a QR code on your phone, eliminating the need to print it out. The system sends you a reminder when your departure is imminent, and from your My Travel account you can download an invoice, reschedule your departure or request a refund. This is particularly convenient for people who travel frequently on business or who combine several journeys into one European trip.

The service also offers deferred payments, which allow you to finalise your ticket purchase at a convenient time - particularly useful for group bookings or planning longer journeys across Europe. Passengers can use the most popular online payment methods, including BLIK, payment cards and fast bank transfers.

Buying a ticket on PolishTrains also gives access to a Polish-language helpline - helpful when selecting fares, connecting routes or handling bookings. If necessary, consultants can advise which offer will be the best value for money or which trains have a dining car, quiet zone or seats for disabled passengers.

Deutsche Bahn ticket types

Deutsche Bahn's offering is varied, so passengers can choose from several types of ticket - differing in price, flexibility and refund policy. Among the most popular fares are:

Super Sparpreis - the cheapest option for those who are certain about their travel dates. The ticket is valid for a specific train and is not refundable or changeable. Only available when purchased in advance.

Sparpreis - a value-for-money ticket that allows a partial refund or change of date for a fee. Ideal for those travelling within a specific timeframe but who value a certain margin of flexibility.

Flexpreis - the most flexible fare, allowing you to travel on any train of the day. The ticket can be cancelled before departure with a full refund. This solution is particularly popular with business passengers.

All DB tickets are valid in the class of your choice - 1st or 2nd - and include seat reservation (in the case of 1st class in the ticket price). In addition, many connections include a so-called City-Ticket, which allows the passenger to continue their journey on public transport in the destination city without having to purchase a separate ticket.

Deutsche Bahn international tickets - travel from Poland to Europe

Deutsche Bahn's offer includes numerous international connections, including popular routes between Poland and Germany. For passengers planning their journey in advance, the carrier has prepared two particularly favourable fares: The Super Discount Offer for Europe and the Discount Offer for Europe. These are options that combine the convenience of train travel with attractive ticket prices.

The Super Discount Offer for Europe allows you to purchase a ticket from as little as EUR 19.99 for short distances, such as from Berlin to Poznań. Travelling medium distances, such as Berlin to Warsaw, costs from €29.99 and on longer routes - e.g. Berlin to Cracow - prices start from €39.99. Tickets are valid for a specific connection, so it is best to buy them well in advance. This is ideal for those who have a fixed travel plan and want to keep costs down as much as possible.

The Discount Offer for Europe provides a little more flexibility. Prices start at €22.99 (e.g. from Berlin to Poznań) and the ticket can be changed or partly refunded for a small fee. This fare works well for passengers who value a favourable price but want to retain the ability to modify their booking.

Deutsche Bahn trains operate on the Berlin-Warsaw, Berlin-Krakow, Berlin-Gdynia or Leipzig-Krakow routes, with some connections running up to seven times a day. All tickets can be purchased up to six months in advance, making it even easier to plan your journey.

Deutsche Bahn - discounts

Several categories of concessions are available from Deutsche Bahn, which mainly cover children, young people and senior citizens. Children up to the age of 5 travel free of charge, without the need to purchase a ticket. Children up to the age of 14 can, in many cases, travel free when accompanied by an adult aged 15 or over - the condition is that the ticket must be booked together.

For regular travellers, a BahnCard 25 and BahnCard 50 discount card scheme has been introduced, which provides 25% and 50% discounts on selected domestic and international fares respectively. Seniors (65+) can additionally benefit from the BahnCard Senior offer, which operates along the same lines but is available at a more favourable price. There are also promotional Super Sparpreis Young tickets for passengers under the age of 27 - an attractive option for young travellers planning to purchase a ticket early. However, there are no student discounts available on the basis of an ID card.

Deutsche Bahn discounts for students and people with disabilities

In contrast to Polish carriers, at Deutsche Bahn, student discounts do not include the standard 'pass' concessions. Academic discounts only operate within local transport systems, the so-called Semesterticket, which entitles students to travel on regional trains (RE, RB, S-Bahn) within a specific state.

The situation is similar for people with disabilities - Deutsche Bahn does not offer a uniform, nationwide reduction as is the case in Poland. However, people with a disability certificate can in some cases benefit from local concessions or free travel for a carer.

Ticket refund

The rules for refunds and ticket changes depend on the fare chosen. No refunds are available for Super Sparpreis tickets, while refunds are available for Sparpreis fares minus a handling fee. For the Flexpreis fare, a full refund is available until the scheduled departure of the train.

If your purchase was made through PolishTrains, the refund process is extremely simple - simply log into your My Travel panel and request a refund or change of date with one click. The refund is automatically credited to the account from which the payment was made and the passenger receives an email confirmation.

If you have problems with your booking or need a consultation, you can contact PolishTrains's Polish-language helpline for support in handling Deutsche Bahn tickets in Poland, fare selection and refund processing.
