What to visit in Tychy? An overview of places of interest

There are many attractions in Tychy for tourists seeking a variety of both historical and recreational experiences. Here is a list of the most interesting ones:

Tyskie Browary Książęce Museum

One of the highlights of the city's map is the Museum of Tyskie Browary Książęce, which takes a look at the region's rich brewing tradition. Visitors can learn about the brewing process as well as the history of the brewery dating back to the 17th century. You can get here quite comfortably directly from the railway station - about 2 km of the road can be covered on foot in just a few minutes. There is another argument which should convince you to go hiking: Browarniany Park, which is a palace and park complex located on Katowicka Street, right next to the Książęcy Brewery. Surrounded by a beautiful park, it is an ideal place for a relaxing walk with the family.

The A Estate

Architecture lovers should visit Osiedle A, which was built between 1951 and 1955 and is an example of post-war socialist realist architecture with its characteristic arcades and colonnades. Here you can see, among other things

  • a square modelled on the Piazza del Campidoglio in Rome

  • masonry, the city's best-known sculpture from the Socialist Realist period, made by Stanislaw Marcinow.

Estate A is located in the city centre district and is less than 4 km from the railway station. You can walk here on foot, admiring the nooks and crannies of the Tychy streets or take public transport, e.g. trolleybus line A (just get on at the Tychy Dworzec PKP stop, get off at Tychy Towarowa and walk 450 m).

St. Mary Magdalene Church

Another noteworthy gem of Tychy is the Church of St. Mary Magdalene, located at 62 Fr. Konstanty Damrota Street. Its architecture is a combination of tradition and sacred art, and the richly decorated interior is literally breathtaking. It is a place that we can in good conscience recommend not only to those seeking a moment of reflection and prayer, but also to art lovers who will appreciate the artistry of the decorations, stained glass windows and the majestic atmosphere of this monument.

Lake Paprocany

Are you one of those people who value contact with nature? Lake Paprocanskie, popular with locals and tourists alike, is the perfect place for you. It is not difficult to get here from the station either:

  • if you like hiking, be prepared for about 1.5 hours of walking - there are 7 km to cover,

  • if you prefer to get there by public transport, get on the trolleybus line B at the Tychy railway station stop and get off at the Paprocany Pętla stop. Note: you must take into account that there is still a small walk waiting for you - about 1.7 km must be walked to get to the lake itself.

Attractions for couples for a weekend in Tychy

Tychy is an ideal place for a romantic weekend for two! For couples, we especially recommend the aforementioned Lake Paprocany - the picturesque areas around the reservoir encourage walks among the greenery, and you can rent a canoe or pedal boat on site. But this is not the end of the attractions! While in the area, it is worth visiting the Promnice Hunting Castle, located in the village of Kobiór right on Lake Paprocanskie. Since 2018, the building is part of the Castle Museum in Pszczyna. It is a gem of 19th-century hunting architecture associated with the Hochberg family and an excellent backdrop for romantic photos.

The atmospheric Market Square

When strolling around Tychy for two, it is worth stopping at the climatic Market Square. Its focal point is a charming fountain with sculptures of otters. Here you can sit on one of the benches and enjoy the peace and quiet while observing the surroundings. There are cosy cafes and restaurants all around, where it is worth stopping for a cup of aromatic coffee, dessert or an elegant dinner, for example with the dagger, for which Tychy is famous. The attractions for culinary-loving couples could be endlessly listed here!

The "From Socialist Realism to Postmodernism" city trail

Other interesting places in Tychy? For couples looking for an unusual experience, the city offers a unique opportunity to discover the city's architectural heritage together. The city trail "From Socialist Realism to Postmodernism" is an excellent idea for a romantic walk combined with an intellectual journey through various styles and eras. There are as many as 23 buildings to discover, reflecting the socio-cultural and urban transformations of the city.

Attractions for fans of the band Dżem

Take a look at 14 Filaretów street and see the work of art inspired by a photograph taken by Maciej Kuszela, containing the motto "It's always worth being human".
