The renovation of the railway line to Zakopane is part of the modernisation of traction to speed up communication between Cracow and the Tatra capital. The high interest in holiday connections has meant that, despite the ongoing works, the carrier is allowing trains to run. Construction work will continue at Zakopane station during the summer. For this reason, train traffic has been redirected to the temporary PKP station in Zakopane's Spyrkówka. Where is the station and how do I get to the city centre or the track from there?
Where is the Spyrkówka station located?
The summer railway station is located on the outskirts of Zakopane on Spyrkówka, at Chyców Potok Street. Despite the temporary nature of the station, the carrier has made every effort to ensure the comfort of travellers. At Spyrkówka , there are ticket offices, ticket vending machines, a comfortable waiting room, toilets and clear signage. In addition, during the holiday period, i.e. from 25.06 to 31.08.2022, mobile PKP Intercity information officers are at the disposal of passengers, who will provide tourists with all the necessary information related to the journey or possibilities of getting to the centre of Zakopane.
How to get from Spyrkovka to the centre?
Spyrkówka has convenient communication with the town centre and other places where most of the trails start. We can get from here to Kuźnice, Wielka Polana or Kościelisko, among others.
In front of the station there is a large car park with parking spaces for taxis and buses. The solution was planned and implemented in consultation with the Zakopane City Council.
Thanks to the creation of the temporary station, further modernisation of the target station is possible and hiking tourists can again reach Zakopane by train.
