Today, visitors can enjoy 150 museums and galleries, the Paris Fashion Week and countless cafés for a refreshing glass of wine. The Seine, winding through the city, invites you to take a stroll along its banks. The suggested walking route is four hours. It is up to you how much time you want to spend in each place.

We suggest starting the tour at 10:00am from:

1. Ile de la Cite The Cite metro station is located at the foot of the Gothic Notre Damme Cathedral, famous for the novel The Bell Jar of Notre Dame by Victor Hugo, among others. If there is no queue to climb the cathedral tower, it is worth climbing it to see the famous stone gargoyles and the skyline of Paris. While inside, look out for the huge rosette-shaped stained glass window (more than 10 metres in diameter). From the cathedral, head towards the western tip of the island, whose prow is the triangular Place du Dauphiné, leading to the Pont Neuf bridge that connects the island of la Cita to the rest of the city. 13 min 1 km

2. the Louvre (Palais Royal du Louvre metro station) A good way to explore the city is to walk along the Seine. It is worth forgoing the metro for this stretch. Head along the right bank towards the Louvre, the former seat of the French monarchs, now a museum housing Leonardo da Vinci's famous 'Monalisa'. We only have enough time for a short visit so we decide whether we want to enter or prefer to see the building from the outside, admiring the famous glass pyramid. 27 min 2 km

3rd Museum d'Orsay ( Assemblee Nationale metro station). Cross the Artists' Bridge, or Pont des Arts, to the other side of the Seine where the Museum d'Orsay is located. Art lovers will find an impressive collection of works by the Impressionists, the vast majority of whom created in Paris. It is therefore an opportunity to look at the city through their eyes. The museum itself is located in a former railway station built in 1900 for the World Exhibition. Time for another symbol of Paris 39 min 3 km

Eiffel Tower ( Ecole Militaire metro station) - You can get there on foot by walking along Rue de l'Universite (40 minutes) or if you want to save a while, you can take the number 8 metro from Assemblee Nationale station to Ecole Militaire (15 minutes). The metro exit is at the foot of the Champs de Mars over which the Eiffel Tower, built in 1887, towers. It is worth making a stop here for a baguette and wine, which we can buy from vendors circulating in the area. If you feel like climbing to the top of the tower, it is worth taking the staircase option - it will save time. 15/40 min 5.5 km

5 Champs Elysées (Champs Elysses - Clemenceau metro station) From the Tower, head to the Monttessuy stop in the middle of the Champs Elysées, where you take the 14 bus, which runs every 7 minutes**(15 min 1.9 km**). We take the bus to the Champs Elysses - Clemenceau stop located in the central part of the Champs Elysées, the representative avenue of Paris, connecting the Place de Consent and Charles De Gaulle Square. Passing numerous theatres, Parisian cafés and exclusive shops, head towards the Arc de Triomphe 4 min 450 m

The 6th Arc de Triomphe ( Franklin D. Roosevelt metro station) is the crowning glory of the Champs-Élysées. It was built between 1806 and 1836 to commemorate those who fought for France during the French Revolution and the Napoleonic Wars. Under the Arc de Triomphe, we board the yellow metro line (No. 1) at Franklin D. Roosevelt Station, which we take two stops to Concorde Station. We then change to the green line 12, which we take to Pigalle Station 22 min 3 km

7 Place Pigalle ( Pigalle station) It is known to have the best chestnuts and to be home to the iconic Moulin Rouge cabaret, which presents fanciful dance performances including the indispensable cancan. There are also numerous shops selling fancy erotic accessories. From the Moulin Rou ge, we climb the hill to the real heart of this artistic quarter, the Place du Terte, whose original architecture and numerous cafés have always attracted Paris' bohemians. Today, reproductions of works by Parisian painters are traded here. 15 min 850 m

Now it's time to decide - an evening in Paris or in London ?

If it's Paris, it's easy... we go to Montmarte to drink wine and soak up the atmosphere in Paris, and if it's London... a very good choice - we relax in the comfort of the train before an evening in Soho. We are lucky because the Nord du Gard station is right at the foot of the hill on which the Basilica stands. The last train to London leaves at 21:13.
