Tarnów-Brzesko-Bochnia

Both Brzesko and Bochnia are located not far from Tarnów. The journey to Brzesko takes just a quarter of an hour, and to Bochnia a few minutes longer. In this way, you can plan your attractions for the whole day without wasting a lot of time getting to your destinations.

What is worth seeing in Brzesko?

Okocim Brewery - the brewery was founded in 1845 by Jozef Neumann and Jan Ewangelista Goetz. Visits to the brewery are possible by appointment with the Okocim Brewery Lovers' Association.

Goetz Palace - the 19th-century palace was built near the brewery by one of the founders, as evidenced by its name. There is now a hotel there, and tours by individual tourists are possible on designated dates. Adjacent to the chateau is an extensive 14 ha park with up to 40 different species of trees. It is an ideal place for a walk surrounded by nature.

In Bochnia, it is especially worth visiting the salt mine, which, like the one in Wieliczka, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Interestingly, this mine is older than the one in Wieliczka!

Tickets to the mine can be bought directly before the tour, however, due to the high interest in this place, it is advisable to do it online. This way you can avoid queues and be sure to visit the mine on the selected date.

🚆Trains on the Tarnów-Brzesko line take between 11 and 25 minutes. You can buy tickets for this connection from as little as 16 PLN. The Brzesko-Bochnia route, on the other hand, takes between 6 and 12 minutes and tickets cost from 11 zł. If you want to go straight from Tarnów to Bochnia, it will take from 17 to 34 minutes at a price from 17 zł.

Tarnów-Rzeszów-Łańcut

The journey from Tarnów to Rzeszów, depending on the choice of train, takes between 40 minutes and 1 hour 10 minutes, with tickets costing from PLN 27. The attractions of Rzeszów are varied. What is worth seeing?

Thetown square - thetown houses surrounding the square come from different periods, creating a stylistic mosaic. It is complemented by the impressive town hall from the late 16th century, which is still the seat of Rzeszów City Hall. During the day, the bugle call is played from the town hall, composed by the legendary jazzman, Tomasz Stańko. Beneath the surface of the square, the Underground Tourist Route, created from the city's interconnected cellars, awaits tourists.

The Museum of Bedtime Cart oons - among the exhibits in this unusual museum are original film puppets, scripts and decorations. You will see Teddy Bear Uszatek or Jack and Agatka with your own eyes. This is the ideal place for both the youngest and slightly older visitors who want to take a sentimental journey back to their childhood years.

Afterwards, it's worth taking the train and heading to Łańcut, a 10-minute drive away. There, you will find the magnificent Lubomirski and Potocki Castle and its park. You will see the castle itself with the coach house and stables in about 2 hours, but when visiting all the attractions including the Orchid House, it is worth reserving another 2-3 hours.

Day trips from Tarnów are an excellent idea to go to the larger cities of the region, where attractions can be planned around the clock.

Nowy Sącz

The Tarnów-Nowy Sącz journey is slightly longer, taking between 1 hour 30 minutes and 1 hour 56 minutes one way, and the ticket costs from PLN 29. Hence it is worth planning your trip quite early. The attractions of Nowy Sącz, however, make up for getting up early in the morning. Among the many attractions such as the Royal Castle, the Shooting Park, the Market Square and the main building of the Sącz Land Museum, it is impossible to mention the largest open-air museum in Małopolska.

  • The S ączEthnographic Park stretches over 20 hectares and presents more than 80 objects - from simple cottages and homesteads to three churches and a manor house.
  • Also worth seeing is the Galician Town with its reconstruction of small-town buildings.

Cracow

The Tarnów-Kraków route can be covered in as little as 40 minutes, with tickets starting at 16 PLN. It is definitely worth spending the whole day to visit the capital of Malopolska, as there is a lot to see. You can start your sightseeing tour of Cracow from the Central Railway Station, and more specifically from its old building which now houses HistoryLand.

What else?

  • As standard, it is worth going to the Main Market Square and its surroundings, seeing the underground route, St. Mary's Church, the Cloth Hall, the Collegium Maius and, of course, Wawel.
  • The sightseeing can be extended with a walk through the historic Jewish quarter of Kazimierz.
  • When planning a tour in the footsteps of World War II, be sure to visit Schindler's Factory, the Eagle Pharmacy and Pomorska Street.
