Round trips from Gdańsk - routes ideal for an intensive day full of attractions

The surroundings of Gdańsk offer many places of interest to see which can be easily reached by rail. As a result, you can plan sightseeing tours from Gdańsk without stressing about transport.

Tricity tour

The most popular round trip in the area is, of course, to visit the other two cities that make up the Tricity. Depending on your preference, you can go to Sopot first and then visit Gdynia, or drop in for a quick trip to Sopot on your way back from Gdynia.

In Sopot you will see:

The pier - a famouspier that served as a harbour for hydroplanes in the 1920s. Throughout its history, the Sopot pier has been featured many times in film pictures, such as: Journey for One Smile, Shtos, Reich or Only Love Me.

Forest Opera - the Avenue of the Stars leads to this famous amphitheatre, where you can see paintings related to artists who have played an important role in the history of the Sopot festival. The Forest Opera has hosted the Sopot Festival in August since 1961.

The second (or first, depending on your itinerary) stop is Gdynia, where you can walk along Kościuszko Square to the Pomeranian Quay and see the city's most interesting attractions:

Dar Pomorza - a museum ship that was purchased in 1929 for the Maritime School in Gdynia. It served as a training ship for many years and has been an exhibit of the National Maritime Museum since the 1980s.

You can also still make a stop at the Gdynia Orłowo station and from there hike along a forest trail to see the Orłowski Cliff.

ORP Błyskawica and ORP Sokół - two ships that were used by the Polish Navy for years. They are now museum objects belonging to the Naval Museum in Gdynia.

MIR Gdynia Aquarium - the ideal place for lovers of the underwater world. It contains eight halls where visitors can see inhabitants of various underwater terrains from all over the world - from the cold waters of the North Atlantic to the dense tropics of the Amazon, coral reefs, the Pacific and, of course, the Baltic Sea. The aquarium has zoo status.

Gdańsk-Tczew-Pelplin

Tczew is one of the oldest towns in Gdańsk Pomerania. You can see there a church dating back to the 13th century, but by far the most interesting attraction are the Tczew Bridges, which connect the banks of the Vistula River. The first of these was built in the mid-19th century and at the time was one of the longest road bridges in the world - it is famous for its characteristic towers, of which there were originally as many as ten. Only four remain today.

Pelplin, on the other hand, is famous for its unique monument - the second largest brick church in Poland, the Basilica of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. It was erected in the 14th century as part of the Cistercian monastery complex.

You can reach both towns by train - from Gdańsk to Tczew the journey takes between 16 and 30 minutes, while from Tczew to Pelplin it takes 17. Depending on your choice of train, you can get back to Gdańsk from Pelplin in as little as half an hour on an IC train or slightly longer on Polregio trains.

There are dozens of trains a day on the Gdańsk Główny-Malbork route. In 20 minutes, you can get from the railway station to an attraction that is not only the most important in the city, but also in the whole region, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Malbork Castle is the largest brick defensive structure of its kind in the world. Its construction began at the end of the 13th century and was only completed in the mid-15th century. Numerous stairs and dozens of rooms can tire out even the most strenuous visitors. You can buy your train ticket to Malbork conveniently at PolishTrains - without creating an account, and you will receive your ticket by SMS.

Elbląg

A visit to Elbląg can be just as interesting, although quite different from the castle chambers. Above all, it is worth seeing the Old Town with its cathedral, Market Gate and impressive tenement houses. There are also attractions for children in the city, where the New Holland Family Amusement Park is thriving.
