When will Warsaw Central Station be closed? - key information for travellers

From 8-16 November 2025, Warsaw Central Station will be completely closed to rail traffic.

During this time, no trains will stop at Warszawa Centralna station, and long-distance, regional and agglomeration services will be diverted to other Warsaw stations. As part of the same track works, the worn-out turnouts at Warszawa Włochy station will also be replaced.

Travellers should follow up-to-date announcements from carriers and check timetables before their planned journey, as there may be additional adjustments and delays during the Centralna closure. PKP informs that in October, special materials for passengers will be displayed at the stations and stops of the Warsaw railway junction to inform passengers about the upcoming changes in train services.

Central Warsaw closure - how will trains run to Warsaw?

Due to the closure of Warsaw Central Station from 8-16 November 2025, train traffic in the capital will be organised differently. Long-distance and regional trains will be rerouted to neighbouring stations to ensure continuity of connections and reduce inconvenience for passengers.

  • Intercity trains to and from: Białystok, Lublin, Poznań, Bydgoszcz, Gdynia and Olsztyn will be diverted via Warszawa Gdańska and Warszawa Śródmieście.
  • Westbound trains will terminate at Warszawa Główna station, including: Polregio, ŁKA and SKM running to Chopin Airport, Żyrardów, Skierniewice and Płock.
  • Trains from the eastern direction will terminate at Warszawa Wschodnia station, including, among others: services to and from Terespol, trains to and from Gdynia, Koleje Mazowieckie to Modlin, Szybka Kolej Miejska to Legionowo.

Thanks to the introduction of this traffic organisation, travellers will still be able to reach Warsaw from different directions, although they should be prepared for longer journey times and the need to change trains at other points in the city.

Why will Central Warsaw be closed?

PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe will close Warsaw Central due to planned modernisation works. These will include the installation of a turnout trapeze and the modernisation of railway traffic control (SRK) equipment. These measures will increase the capacity of the station and improve train traffic through the city centre.

The November works are part of the extensive modernisation of the cross-city line, running from Warsaw West to Warsaw East. This is one of the largest infrastructure projects in the capital, with an estimated value of around PLN 8 billion.

In connection with the modernisation works, it is also important to bear in mind the planned adjustment of the train timetable, which is due to come into effect on 26 October 2025.
