IC 3560 Witkacy train – route and timetable
IC 3560 Witkacy is a PKP Intercity service connecting Zakopane with Gdynia Główna, running for over eleven hours and stopping at 37 stations along the way, including Poronin, Dąbrowa Górnicza Ząbkowice, Łódź Kaliska, Aleksandrów Kujawski and Smętowo. It is one of the few services connecting Podhale with the Baltic coast without a change.
The route works well both for travellers travelling from Podhale towards Śląsk and Łódź and for those who want to reach the Baltic coast without changing trains. The IC category means a higher standard than TLK. Among departures from Zakopane station, TLK remains the most frequently chosen train type, while Express InterCity accounts for a minority.
A TLK ticket is the cheapest option from Zakopane station, while Express InterCity is the most expensive – the difference between these categories is almost double the price. Even when there is little time left before departure, the cheaper TLK category may still be available, and you can check this quickly in the PolishTrains search engine.
December is the month when ticket sales from Zakopane station clearly increase, and most people decide to buy 2-4 weeks before their journey. As many as 28 per cent of passengers departing from Zakopane buy a ticket 1-3 days before departure, showing that buying just before the journey in the PolishTrains search engine is perfectly normal. However, if plans change and the travel date has already passed, the ticket can be exchanged online through the PolishTrains service without having to queue at the ticket office.
