Tatry train – routes and services
Tatry consists of EIC-category trains operating between Warszawa Wschodnia and Zakopane. The connection operates in both directions and runs daily, so you can plan the route for any day of the week. Two services operate under this name, both operated by Intercity.
The route to Zakopane attracts both tourists travelling to the Tatra Mountains for the weekend and people travelling for business or with their families during the week – EIC is a category combining comfort with a reasonable journey time. The ticket price for Tatry depends on the selected train category – travelling on an IC Intercity train is the cheapest option, while EIP Pendolino is the most expensive. From Warszawa Wschodnia station, the largest number of passengers, as many as 66 per cent, choose the IC Intercity category, while Pendolino accounts for 16 per cent of departures. Fares for the same route can vary considerably between categories, so it is worth comparing them before buying a ticket.
From Warszawa Wschodnia station, the most tickets, as many as 34 per cent, are bought 1–3 days before departure, showing that many passengers decide to travel at the last minute.
