Ostrava is the third large city in the Czech Republic, located at the foot Beskids mountains. The city is cultural and entertainment vibrant. One may say that Ostrava is changing into commercial and university centre in the country. The castle in the Silesian Ostrava and the Mining Museum are the monuments entered onto the world heritage UNESCO list. One of the oldest building in the city is the old town hall that contemporary hosts the Ostrava Museum. Among others, you may see the Venus of Petrkovice – 20 thousand years old statue. There are five railway stations in the city. The most important one is the Ostrava-Svinov railway station. It provides long-distance and regional connections.
