Valencia

Valencia is the third large city in Spain. It is located on the Submediternian Sea that makes it an important trade and passenger port. In 2011 the city has been awarded the European Capital of Sport Federation. The oldest monument in the area of the city is the XIII century cathedral that connects Roman, Gothic and Baroque styles. The word of legend says that it is the place of the Holy Grail. In the city there are many museums and galleries like The National Ceramic Museum or The Fine Art Museum housing the impressive Spanish paintings. Valencia is also famous for its XVI century botanic garden. The city hosts numerous events and parties. In March, the Fire Holiday or Las Fallas is organised that lasts a few days during which special sculptures are prepared to be burned later. The worldwide famous event taking time at the end of August is the greatest tomato fight, so called Tomatina (or the flower fight a month earlier for the more sensitive people). The FC Valencia stadium is located in the city as well, and the race track nearby – Michael Schumacher used to train there.

The Valencia Joaquin Sorolla train station is the largest in the city. It is situated in the city centre. It supports connections of high-speed AVE trains. The train station supports long-distance trains like Barcelona, Madrid, Alicante, Malaga or Montpellier.
